Clerk - Assumed Name
Process to file an Assumed Name and Co-Partnership
A sole proprietor and a general partnership conducting or transacting business in this state under a name other than the real name of the person(s) must file a Certificate of Assumed Name or Certificate of Co-Partnership.
Assumed Name Certificates must be filed in the county where the business is located and may also be filed in each county where you are conducting or transacting business. If the business address is not in Chippewa, a copy of the Assumed Name Certificate that has been filed in the county where the business address is located must be provided at the time of filing.
Co-Partnership Certificates must only be filed in the county where the business address is located.
We cannot accept assumed names that are similar to another name already on file.
The filing fee is $10.00 and is valid for a period of 5 years. The County Clerk's office will notify businesses by mail when it is time to renew the filing.
